A new short film based on the original Xbox is going viral on YouTube. This video titled “Player Two” was posted by Wikstrom on YouTube and Vimeo. It tells the story of a young man who logged quality time with his father while playing a game called Rallisport Challenge on Xbox back in 2002. Young man’s father dies unexpectedly. Ten years later, the boy retrieves the dusty Xbox console, only to discover his father as a ghost inside the console. Watch the video to above to understand it better.

Adweek spoke with Wikstrom to know more about this video. Wikstrom said that this was a story he had stumbled across, posted in the comments section of a YouTube video titled “Can Video Games Be a Spiritual Experience?”

Even though Microsoft was not involved in creating this video, Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s head of Xbox’s game marketing commented the following to applaud the video creator.

“This is really inspiring. Connecting players through gaming is one of the best rewards of creating video games, and stories like this are always touching and inspire us to do our best work. We applaud this fan’s courage in sharing his story and the filmmaker’s artistry in bringing it to life so vividly.”
