The press was yesterday given an opportunity to go hands-on with the final version of the Samsung Galaxy Fold before it hits the shelves on the 24th, and while they mostly did not reveal anything new, one element few are commenting on but which is an evolution of what Samsung originally showed off at MWC 2019 is demonstrated in the picture above.

In the early versions of the Fold merely starting to close the screen would switch the display off, making it impossible to use the device in a laptop-like form factor.  The picture above (via Wired) clearly shows that Samsung has fixed the issue, making the device more practical for intense text entry.

Of course, that may be more in theory than fact – the device is still somewhat too wide for thumb typing and you are still typing on glass, but the mere fact that Samsung has enabled this feature (impossible on the Huawei Mate X) puts the Fold head of the Chinese handset.
