With Xbox’s acquisition of the game’s developer Obsidian Entertainment last year, Microsoft revealed that they were hoping that The Outer Worlds would become an Xbox franchise in the future, this appears to be happening with the development of The Outer Worlds 2.
Developer Obsidian Entertainment is currently hard at work on two other projects: the survival game Grounded and the upcoming AAA RPG Avowed. While the $7.5 billion Microsoft acquisition of Bethesda Softworks parent company ZeniMax Media has led many to want Fallout New Vegas 2 from Obsidian Entertainment, the developer appears to be very busy.
