While OnePlus’s devices are popular in Europe and Asia; in America, not so much. This is likely due to its lack of carrier relationships with US carriers with the exception of Sprint at the moment, and let’s face it, Sprint isn’t exactly one of the best players. That appears set to change in 2020. A new report indicates that OnePlus will sell its flagship OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition in the US via Verizon Wireless. This report comes from both PhoneArena and Android Police this weekend.

That said, even as OnePlus’s move towards the States increases its potential to grow sales-wise, there are still issues with the prospect of a US wide launch. The trade war between China and America has continued to expand. With a threatened tariff on phones sourced from Chinese firms, OnePlus would either have to eat the costs of tariffs or raise their prices to transfer those costs to their customers. If the latter, they’d be erasing one of the points that made them so valuable in the first place — their relatively low pricing compared to the iPhones and Huawei’s of the world.

One thing’s for sure, for an Android fan in the US, the continued growth and expansion of one of the most loved brands into the market can only be a good thing.

The OnePlus 7T family has been tipped for a September 26 launch, and we’ll learn more about their plans then.
