Right after the launch of a dark mode for Gmail for Android and iOS, Google is rolling out a dark mode update to the new Google Play Store. The update applies a light grey theming to the app, tweaking the accents slightly so colours pop rather than clash.

It was spotted earlier this month in beta and now Google has begun expanding this release to all users.

Dark mode officially debuted for Android with Android 10 after a soft launch with Android Pie. Adoption by developers has been pretty smooth. Apps like Reddit and even Facebook Inc’s Instagram have adopted both the dark mode and support the system-wide controls — more than one can say about some Google apps.

Users can expect to see the new mode within the next few days. There’s likely to be a server-side switch, so you’ll get it when you get it. It’ll also be available for Android Pie and OneUI users who have a limited version of dark mode as well.
