Instagram has been one of the few apps that were lacking the Dark Mode but that changes today. The company has started rolling out Dark Mode support for the app. This is probably one of the rare instances where Instagram for Android has beaten Instagram for iPhone as Dark Mode is still not available for iPhones.

According to 9to5google, the update pushes the app to v114.0.0.24. The app just enables Dark Mode for Android 10 users. Do note that the app follows system settings so in order to see Dark Mode, you will need to select system-wide Dark Mode. Instagram’s Dark Mode uses black colour instead of light or dark grey and looks good on all the pages. However, the dark mode has its own set of issues but considering that it’s in beta, we can let those pass by.

While we weren’t able to get the Dark Mode on our devices running on Android Pie, 9to5google notes that it works on most of the devices on Pie. If you’re currently using Android Pie then head to Developer Options>Night Mode and select Always on to get system-wide Dark Mode. Once done, Instagram will be able to pick it up and Dark Mode will be enabled.
