Update: We finally have actual figures available. Tekken 7 has sold 1.66 million units already worldwide and Bandai Namco expects the game to sell 2.1 million units by the end of 2017.

While PlayStation 4 was the console of choice for June, it was still a great month for fighting games. In the United States, Tekken 7 finally beat Injustice 2 to take the top spot. However, Injustice 2 was a close second. You can take a look at the best-selling games below:

  1. Tekken 7
  2. Injustice 2
  3. Grand Theft Auto V
  4. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  5. Arms
  6. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  7. Mario Kart 8
  8. Overwatch
  9. NBA 2K17
  10. Horizon Zero Dawn
  11. Ghost Recon Wildlands
  12. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
  13. MLB 17 The Show
  14. Rainbow Six: Siege
  15. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  16. Battlefield 1
  17. Minecraft
  18. The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind
  19. FIFA 17
  20. Forza Horizon 3

It’s great to see fighting games doing so well because it’s a genre which hasn’t really performed that well over the past several years. Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat X changed that so the momentum is continuing. Hopefully games like Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will carry over the trend.

Over the course of 2017, many games have left a mark. If you look at the past 12 months then Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is by far the best selling title but this year is off to a great start for Ubisoft. Ghost Recon Wildlands and For Honor are among the top 3. This is definitely quite a feat because Ghost Recon Wildlands received a tepid response from gamers when it first came out and For Honor was more of an experiment. You can take a look at the top games of 2017 so far below:

  1. Ghost Recon Wildlands
  2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  3. For Honor
  4. Grand Theft Auto V
  5. Horizon Zero Dawn
  6. Injustice 2
  7. Mass Effect: Andromeda
  8. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
  9. NBA 2K17
  10. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

If you view only Xbox One games, titles like Forza Horizon 3 continue to perform really well. While Injustice 2 was the fighting game of choice even in June for Xbox One owners, it’s still great to see Tekken 7 doing well. On PlayStation 4 Tekken 7 beat Injustice 2. This just goes to show you the differences between the two groups. The fact that Tekken 7 is mostly in Japanese and has slightly strange subtitles probably didn’t do it any favors when it comes to those who prefer Microsoft’s console. The top Xbox One games for June are below:

  1. Injustice 2
  2. Grand Theft Auto V
  3. Tekken 7
  4. Overwatch
  5. Forza Horizon 3
  6. Ghost Recon Wildlands
  7. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
  8. NBA 2K17
  9. Rainbow Six: Siege
  10. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
