Microsoft has updated the Surface Book and the Surface Book with Performance base with firmware updates earlier today. While the updates initially didn’;t include what was changed, Microsoft has now updated the update history pages to now include what’s new.

Microsoft is updating the Intel precision touch driver, this controls how the device deals with touch, this update improves the capability of the device with dealing with “fast touch events” when the device is closed and in a bag. This will probably improve battery life due to the device not responding to touch and potentially turning on while in a bag this draining the battery.

The other updates to the Surface Book (and Surface Book with Performance Base) are for stability. Microsoft is updating the Nvidia GeForce GPU as well as the Surface UEFI drivers to improve system stability.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) : Precise Touch Device v1.2.0.70 – reduces false touch events when the device is closed.
  • NVIDIA driver update for NVIDIA GeForce GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GPU v21.21.13.6961 – improves system stability.
  • Microsoft driver update for Surface UEFI: Surface UEFI v90.1380.768.0 – improves system stability.

Like with all Windows 10 Updates, Microsoft will download it to your device and install when opportune. However, you can get the update by heading to Windows Update in Settings and Checking for updates directly. Have you gotten this update? Let us know in the comments below.
