Key notes

  • Spotify introduces video learning courses in the UK with partners like BBC Maestro and Skillshare.
  • You can try two free lessons on music, creativity, business, or health before purchasing additional content.
  • Free trial available for both Free and Premium users on mobile app or desktop.

Not too long after announcing that it’s bringing music videos to the app and Miniplayer on desktops, Spotify has now said that it’s expanding its reach into providing learning courses. The streaming giant said in today’s announcement that it’s now testing this feature in the UK.

The video-based courses, in partnership with BBC Maestro, PLAYvirtuoso, Skillshare, and Thinkfic, will then be brought to you on your screens alongside your usual music, podcasts, and audiobooks. You can also try at least two lessons on music, creativity, business, or health for free before purchasing additional content.

The best part of it? The free trial comes at no cost, whether you’re a free or a Premium user, unlike the music video feature which now is trialed for paid users. You can try it either on your mobile app or your desktop

“Many of our users engage with podcasts and audiobooks on a daily basis for their learning needs, and we believe this highly engaged community will be interested in accessing and purchasing quality content from video course creators,” the company’s VP for Product Development says.

There have been quite a few new features at work on Spotify in recent months. Besides this, the popular streaming platform has also debuted its AI DJ feature. As the name suggests, you can have an AI-generated DJ curate a vibe for you, like an actual disk jokey.
