Earlier this year Qualcomm introduced their flagship chipset for 2018. Called Snapdragon 845, it showed what 2018 has in store for mobile devices and flagships but not every device will run 845. A new leak at Chinese website Weibo showed three new upcoming chipsets which might be used in Mid range and budget devices. The spec sheet posted on Weibo compares the upcoming Snapdragon 670, 640 and 460 processors. If the other similar chipsets are to be seen, we can assume that 670 and 640 will be made available for mid-range devices while 460 will be for budget devices.
While the Snapdragon 670 is rumoured to replace the existing 660, Snapdragon 640 is probably a new line to be introduced in 2018. Both the chipsets will be based on 10 nm structure and 670 will feature an Octa-core design while the 640 will have 4+2 core design. Devices running the 670 will have one camera at up to 26 MP or dual 13 + 13 MP camera setup.
Moving to the budget-friendly Snapdragon 460. The chipset will feature four Kryo 360 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and four Kryo 360 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz. The chipset will support the camera up to 21 MP and will be based on 14 nm structure.
All the chipsets will be based on the semi-custom design from the latest Cortex licensing agreement. We might see these new chipsets as early as during CES 2018 next month.
