PS5 launch Variable Refresh Rate PS5 PS5 rest mode bug Bricked PlayStation 5 PS5 web browser Sony PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 has just two days until launch,  but the upcoming console will not feature an extremely useful feature that two previous generations of PlayStation consoles have, a web browser.  Oh, and for those who were wondering,  there aren’t any plans for a PS5 web browser.

Speaking in an interview with Watch Impress, Senior Vice President at Sony Interactive Entertainment Hideaki Nishino revealed that there will not be any PS5 web browser on their new console and there are no plans to develop one.

Nishino explained that the addition of a PS5 web browser application for the PS5 was something that the team believes is an unnecessary addition to the console.

“Currently, we don’t intend to include a web browser in PS5,” the Vice President said. “We have doubts about whether a web browser is necessary for a game console as an app, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Sony isn’t the only console to not include a bespoke web browser on their console. Nintendo has famously refused to implement a web browser on the Nintendo Switch.  While the console does technically have an in-built browser, it’s only used for games that require the application.
