Around 10 days ago Apple announced that they have replaced Bing as the backend for searched for their voice assistant.
Then Apple said:
“Switching to Google as the web search provider for Siri, Search within iOS and Spotlight on Mac will allow these services to have a consistent web search experience with the default in Safari, We have strong relationships with Google and Microsoft and remain committed to delivering the best user experience possible.”
It turns out switching out your brain in mid-flight is not completely without consequences, however as can be seen in the odd case of when you ask Siri what the national anthem of Bulgaria is.
While Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s Despacito is pretty catchy, its rather far off the real answer, which is “Mila Ridino” or Dear Motherland.
Strangely Google Assitant, Cortana and Alexa all know the right answer, which makes the origin of Siri’s strange idea even more puzzling.
Maybe Tim Cook is just a big Fonsi fan…
