A few weeks ago we reported on a rumour that Samsung was delaying the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 from Spring to Summer. That information came courtesy of display analyst Ross Young but has now received more support from Korean publication the Elec.
They note that it has been confirmed that Samsung will only be launched in the Samsung Galaxy S21 in January and that the Z Flip 2, which was expected to be released at the same event, will not be present at Unpacked 2021.
The reason is reportedly that Samsung is concerned that the one handset will cannibalise the sales of the other device.
Besides the Samsung Galaxy S21, the company is expected to also launch the Galaxy Buzz wireless headphones, which will reportedly be waterproof.
Regarding the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 – that device is expected in Q2 or later.
According to rumors, the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will feature a bigger outer display than the first generation Z Flip, which has a tiny 1.1-inch outer display. Samsung is said to be using a new Ultra Thin Glass(UTG) display in the Z Flip 2, but we don’t know the details about the new UTG display just yet.
The Galaxy Z Flip 2 might also join the high-refresh-rate bandwagon by adding a 120Hz display, and with it comes the need to introduce a bigger battery, which, according to the leaker, is exactly what Samsung will do. The Z Flip packs a 3300mAh battery.
Unfortunately, that’s all that we know about the Galaxy Z Flip 2, but as we move closer to the launch date, we’ll get to know more about Samsung’s upcoming clamshell foldable phone. Rest assured, you’ll keep you updated about all the latest Z Flip 2 leaks.
