Three weeks ago we reported that Samsung is expected to make it possible to disable the Bixby button on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

It turns out that rumour was not exactly true, but Samsung has acceded to demands of Note 9 users who complained the sensitive Bixby button caused a high number of accidental Bixby launched – up to 30 times per day.

Android Authority reports that the latest version of Bixby will allow users to set the activation of Bixby to either a single or double tap press of the button. While somewhat short of the ideal situation, which would be the ability to remap the button to something more useful, the change should substantially reduce accidental Bixby launches.

To update to the latest version check the About menu in Bixby settings.
