It is not a new news that Samsung has been working on a foldable smartphone and did aimed for 2018 release. Now the company has shared information on the device confirming its existence and shared information on the same. If you remember, Samsung did mention foldable phone last year as well which gave fans hope for a CES 2018 release.

The company has now shared some information during the press conference in CES.

It is true that we are developing foldable smartphones. However, we cannot confirm any schedules for mass-production or release of foldable smartphones due to our business strategies.

– Samsung Spokesperson

Talking about the launch date, Koh said that it’s still early to decide the launch date.

It is difficult to talk about the date of the launch now. We want to unveil the products properly but now seems a bit early.

– DJ Koh

While this was the official statement from the CES floor, we suspect there’s more to it than just the issue of durability or finishing the product but what if Android itself is not ready to support a foldable display. Android still can’t adapt to different screen sizes and considering the fact that Galaxy X will work as both Tablet and phone, one can suspect UI issues with the software.

We do hope Samsung can fix the issue as soon as possible but still there’s little chance that we might see a production unit of Galaxy X this year.
