Rocket League 120fps

As part of Rocket League developer Psyonix’s next-gen plans, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S owners will be treated to an upcoming Rocket League 120fps update in the near future. However, PS5 owners will be left behind.

The news was revealed in a recent development blog post that explained both current and future next-gen plans for the popular Rocket-car football (or soccer,  whatever) game on Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5.

On launch,  Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will both run Rocket League at a full 4K resolution at 60fps with HDR. On the other hand, Xbox Series S will run the game at 1080p 60fps with HDR.

However, Psyonix also revealed that a future update would be coming that would introduce a Rocket League 120fps option that will only be available on both of the Xbox consoles.  PlayStation 5 will not be getting the higher framerate option,

The Rocket League 120fps patch will run at a resolution of 2688×1512 resolution (70% of full 4K) at 120 FPS with HDR on Xbox Series X with a full 4K UI. Xbox Series S will run the game at 1344×756 (70% of Full 1080p) Resolution at 120 FPS with HDR.

Maybe 120fps support will find its way to PlayStation 5 in the future. After all,  Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will reportedly run at 120fps on all next-gen consoles.  We’ll keep you posted on any new information.
