According to a report from business weekly Milano Finanza, Microsoft has reached an agreement with the Italian Ministry of Defence to deploy Windows 10 on all the PCs of ministry’s civil and military employees. The official announcement will be made in few days and Italian Ministry has decided to go with Windows 10 because of its improved security features that will improve their overall cybersecurity efforts.

The Italian military last year announced that they are moving away from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice and the Open Document Format (ODF). The Ministry of Defence expects to save between 26 and 29 million Euro over the next few years by migrating their productivity solution on 150,000 PCs to LibreOffice. After losing the Office deal last year, Microsoft sales and marketing team would have had a tough time securing this deal.
