WhatsApp released two updates in the last few hours which were meant to be the long awaited updates we were waiting for. One of the well welcomed and badly awaited fixes was getting rid of the audio stream which WhatsApp used to get background notifications. This drained the battery extremely quickly and some, me too, reported their phone was getting very hot because of it.
After the update the stream was gone, at least for most. Some of our reader reported that the stream appeared a short time later again after a quick error message saying there was something wrong with the notifications. After that, the stream could not be disabled; even a fresh installation couldn’t solve the problem. One reader even reported that he hard-reseted his phone because of this and the stream was still there.
I can’t confirm this issue as everything works perfectly fine on my device (what a surprise), but it seems quite many people are affected. Therefore…
