As of July 22nd, Pokémon GO players will find themselves inundated by a swarm of cheeky Pikachu clad in an iconic straw hat.

The hat, of course, is the same one as the protagonist of One Piece – Monkey D. Luffy – wears. What’s more, it’s not only Pikachu who can be found wearing it: trainers can also pick up a Red Ribbon Straw Hat for themselves in the in-game Style Shop.

Fashionable! Comfortable! One Piece!

The collaboration is in aid of the reconstruction effort in the wake of the Kumamoto earthquake back in 2016, and the event will run from the 22nd until the 29th of July.

These dates also encompass two special occasions: the third anniversary of Pokémon GO and the 22nd anniversary of One Piece.

One Piece creator and manga artist, Eiichiro Oda, will be contributing art for a very special PokéStop: a statue of Luffy, set up in Kumamoto Prefecture.

If you want to check out the PokéStop, you’ll have to travel all the way to Kumamoto. The Luffychu is available for all players worldwide to catch and cherish forever.

For more information on the event, you can check out the event’s page here. Just be aware that it’s entirely in Japanese.
