One of the features of the much-leaked Google Pixel 4 is Project Soli, a radar-based sensor which would be used for face scanning and gesture detection.

While we can all see the value of face scanning, gesture detection has looked a lot like a gimmick which most people would not find any good use for.

Now leaked demo videos posted by 9to5Google shows that the technology can be pretty useful, particularly for gestures where you don’t really need or want to be precise, such as when you want to snooze your alarm or dismiss a call.

It remains to be seen if the gestures are useful enough to make up for the gigantic top bezel it requires, but we should find out when reviews hit after the 15th October announcement.
