Report: NVIDIA PC chips based on ARM are coming in 2025

Qualcomm is expected to officially announce its new Snapdragon X Series chipset for PCs later today. The new Snapdragon X Elite processor will offer double the CPU and GPU performance when compared to current x86 PCs. You can read more about the specs of Snapdragon X Series here.

Today, Reuters reported that NVIDIA is now working on ARM-based CPUs that can run Windows OS. NVIDIA’s current plan is to release these chipsets in 2025 to take on Intel, which is a dominant force in the PC industry.

Reuters also added that AMD is also working on ARM-based chipsets that could run Windows OS and these are expected to be available in 2025.

Also, Microsoft has been recommending Qualcomm, NVIDIA and AMD to build advanced AI capabilities in the chipsets they are developing for Windows PCs since AI is going to become an important part of Windows OS. The upcoming Snapdragon X Elite chipset will have a dedicated NPU that can offer performance up to 45TOPS. Also, some of Intel’s 14th gen chipsets already have dedicated NPU to power AI experiences. Intel has plans to expand the AI capabilities to more chipsets in 2024.
