Crackdown 3 has had a tumultuous time in the spotlight to say the least. Ever since its announcement at E3 2014 it’s endured a few delays, constant speculation that it’s been outright cancelled, and complaints over its gameplay quality. Its latest “scare” came when Amazon Spain unexpectedly started cancelling people’s Crackdown 3 pre-orders with no explanation. Microsoft has now stated that this was an error on Amazon’s part.

“The team continues to work hard on the game for our fans,” said Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg on Twitter. “You should contact Amazon directly for any questions related to orders with them.”

He continued in another tweet saying that the “team also confirmed this was due to a technical issue on Amazon side and is being addressed. Hope that helps!”

Adam Isgreen, creative director at Microsoft Studios Publishing, also chimed in to say, “Adam sees crazy rumor that Crackdown 3 is cancelled due to an amazon preorder glitch, thinks ‘Huh, that’s interesting’… as he turns to his dev kit and boots the latest build of Crackdown 3… (hint: not cancelled)”

This doesn’t necessarily mean that it hasn’t been delayed out of 2018 for whatever reason, but Microsoft still wants fans to know that it continues to work on the game. We’ll likely hear more about Crackdown 3 at Microsoft’s E3 press conference on June 10.
