Minecraft’s Better Together update finally hits Nintendo Switch today, bringing with it Xbox achievements and cross-play support between Nintendo’s platform, Xbox One, Windows 10, VR and mobile devices. Its promotional trailer also seems to be a bit of a dig at Sony, which infamously blocked PS4 Fortnite accounts from logging in on Nintendo Switch. Sony may not be too keen on the idea of cross-play, but Nintendo and Xbox sure are capitalizing on it.
Those who already own Minecraft on Nintendo Switch will receive the update for free. This brings its features relatively up-to-date with the other versions of Minecraft as it now runs on the Bedrock Engine. The Nintendo Switch is also getting a special Super Mario mash-up pack.
You will need a Microsoft account if you wish to utilize Minecraft’s cross-play support or play on Realms and Servers. It’s free to create and you can do so by clicking here.
