Minecraft’s film adaptation was set to release next year, but it looks like it’s been reportedly delayed after losing its director.
According to The Wrap, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney, who was attached to direct, has left the project. “No, that is not happening,” he told The Wrap in regards to his involvement.
After his departure, Warner Bros. hired the writer/director duo of Aaron and Adam Nee to rewrite the script. The two are currently working on a Masters of the Universe adaptation. Wonder Woman writer Jason Fuchs was previously attached to the Minecraft movie and wrote the screenplay with McElhenney.
It’s unknown when the film has been bumped to, but it will no longer hit its planned release date of May 24, 2019.
