Using Microsoft’s MileIQ, your miles are automatically logged and recorded creating a complete record of all your tax deductible and reimbursable mileage. Once the drives are logged, classification allows you to categorize which drives are business and which are personal. Earlier this week, announce new intelligence features for MileIQ that can automatically classify drives for you.

Here’s how it works,

  • MileIQ will allow users to mark certain drives as Frequent Drive. Any drives logged with the same start and end point, regardless of route taken, will be available to mark as a Frequent Drive.
  • Once classified, MileIQ will automatically detect those that happen most frequently and offer to auto-classify them in the future.
  • MileIQ will notify you within the app when drives get auto-classified and you can view specific drive details from the web dashboard.

MileIQ will now allow you to set the times you work so that the drives outside those hours will be automatically classified as personal. You can set Work Hours in the Account Settings tab, and MileIQ will do the work of classifying any drives outside of those hours as personal.

They are also releasing a new MileIQ Drive Classifier Widget for iOS that will allow you to quickly classify drives as business or personal, right from the lock screen.

These new features are now available to all MileIQ users. FYI, Microsoft has included MileIQ Premium Subscription with both Office 365 Business Premium and Microsoft 365 Business subscriptions.
