Forbes has published their yearly list of the World’s Most Valuable Brands and this year Microsoft once again held the 3rd spot, with their brand value up 21% Year on Year.

Interestingly this means Microsoft’s brand, worth $104.9 Billion by Forbes’s reckoning, is now worth as much as Google’s was last year ($101.8 Billion).

We have recently reported that Microsoft is being more positively perceived by the public in general and the younger generation in particular, but it is still unusual to think of Microsoft’s brand being as strong as Google’s.

While Forbes does not explain Microsoft’s progress, this improved perception should help Microsoft sell premium products more easily, such as the Surface range of PCs, and possibly be more successful at introducing a new class of devices in the near future.
