Back in 2014, Microsoft acquired HockeyApp, one of the popular beta app distribution and analytics service. Last year, Microsoft revealed Visual Studio App Center as the future of HockeyApp. Yesterday, Microsoft announced that HockeyApp service will be replaced by Visual Studio App Center next year. HockeyApp will complete its transition fully to App Center in one year on November 16, 2019.

Microsoft is making it easier for developers to migrate to App Center. Developers can get started in App Center right away to start exploring the next generation of HockeyApp services. Their HockeyApp apps will already be available on App Center. Developers can use App Center along with HockeyApp and they can also continue to use HockeyApp as they normally would. Starting in early 2019, developers can complete your migration by moving all of their apps fully to App Center. This will remove the syncing with HockeyApp, and will give them full control of the apps in App Center.
