Microsoft announced the general availability of the new Microsoft Teams app for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) customers. This basically means that users and admins can now experience and enjoy all the benefits of the new Teams app within their virtual desktops.

What are VDIs?

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a technology that enables a user to access their desktop operating system from a centralized server, regardless of their location or device. This technology is commonly used by businesses to provide remote access to work desktops or to provide access to specialized software or hardware for users.

What’s New in the New Teams App for VDI? According to Microsoft, the new Teams app will be faster in terms of overall responsiveness, such as launching the app and joining meetings, while consuming less memory and disk space than the classic Teams app. Switching between chats, channels, and activities will be instant, without waiting for content to load.

Besides this, the new Teams app is built on a new platform that is more reliable and stable than the classic Teams app. This will help to reduce crashes and other issues. Moreover, The new Teams app is said to be more secure than the classic Teams app.
