Microsoft’s charitable ventures are well known, the founder of Microsoft — Bill Gates — is a world-renowned philanthropist after all. This time, the firm is teaming up with 5  NFL players who have to do charity work when they aren’t running around on sports fields.

“The charitable foundations created or supported by each player focus on areas that align with some of Microsoft’s own core missions and values, including education, accessibility, creativity, and health. By partnering with these foundations in providing both resources and awareness, we hope to increase their impact on the lives of those in need.” Microsoft’s Robert Matthews explains. “Each NFL player has used Microsoft Surface technology on the field, and each sees technology as a way to improve their foundation’s work and create even greater change in communities that need it most.”

Microsoft has already released their first video, showcasing Von MIller and his mission to provide low-income children in Denver with corrective eye care.

Microsoft will release more videos over the coming weeks to show more about the work of these NFL players.

Just to get ahead of the obvious sentiment, yes Microsoft and the NFL players both will get something good out of it as well. However, it is far better to do good even if for appearance’s sake, than to disparage others for doing good –which this charity work and awareness is.
