Microsoft is reportedly investing in Uber, according to a new report from Bloomberg and The Wall Street of Journal. The report states that firm has closed a new investment, valued at $50 billion. Microsoft is one of the investors for Uber’s latest round of funding.

When you look at this from a different perspective (that’s not from an investor’s perspective), you may be able to see that there’s a good reason why Microsoft is investing in a company like Uber. Both of the companies recently teamed up to bring Cortana integration for Uber — which is yet to come, however. As Bloomberg notes, if the investment happens, it would be a “recognition that the two companies have worked together in the past and plan to remain partners in the future”. It’s worth noting that Microsoft recently sold parts of Bing Maps’ assets to Uber — which makes the investment even more interesting.

However, as The Verge notes, Google is also investing in Uber and both of the companies are working hard on driverless car — which hints that both of the companies are on a “collision course of sorts”. Nonetheless, tell us what you think of Microsoft’s latest investment in Uber in the comment section below.
