Microsoft today released WinJS 4.0 for Windows developers, ahead of the release of Windows 10. Earlier this year, Microsoft previewed WinJS 4.0 and the company improved it with the feedback from users. As expected, WinJS 4.0 includes a handful of new features – here are some of the new additions:

  • SplitViewPaneToggle control
  • Pivot custom header areas
  • Hub visual refresh
  • Cascading menus

It’s worth mentioning that these features have been available with the WinJS 4.0 preview – however, the latest release comes with a handful of bug fixes and performance improvements. For those who don’t know, WinJS is a library that allows developers to build Windows applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. WinJS is an open source project as well.
