Skype for Amazon Firephone
Skype is now available on all kinds of devices, from PCs and tablets, to Xbox Ones, TVs and smartphones of all shapes and sizes. Microsoft has now announced Skype app for Amazon Fire Phone devices. Microsoft Skype team worked with Amazon over the last couple of years to bring Skype to its Kindle Fire HD and HDX tablets, and now for Fire phone.

In addition to all the basic features, Microsoft has enhanced Skype for Android application to bring a more intuitive user experience that is consistent with the Fire phone look and feel. It will have the following new features,

  • Through a widget that is visible from Fire’s Carousel, users can easily see their chats and notifications at a glance, without having to launch the Skype app and open chats with a one-click action.
  • Finally, the customized Skype 3D icon and notification badge show Skype’s use of Fire phone’s innovative Dynamic Perspective technology.
  • Skype is pre-entitled on the Amazon Fire Phone, which means that you won’t have to search for your favorite app to stay in touch whenever you’re apart. Simply tap the Skype icon in your app list, log in, and you’re ready to go!

Skype team mentioned in their blog post that they are committed to make users’ cross-platform experience better, and they will continue to deliver the best experience possible by providing regular updates to Skype for Fire phone over time.
