Microsoft releases new firmware update for Surface 3 to fix potential security vulnerabilities

Microsoft surprised everyone today by releasing a new firmware update for Surface 3 device which was released more than 3 years back. There’s a new firmware for Surface UEFI on devices with Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update) and above that fixes potential security issues, including Microsoft security advisory 180002. For Surface 3 units with Windows 10 Version 1803 (April 2018 Update), Microsoft has released a new driver for Intel HD Graphics that improves compatibility with high resolution external displays on Windows 10 April 2018 Update.

  • Intel(R) HD Graphics v20.19.15.4835 improves compatibility with high resolution external displays on Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
