Microsoft Makes Changes To Its MVP Program To Focus On Developers And IT Pros

Microsoft MVP

Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals, or MVPs, are community leaders who’ve demonstrated an exemplary commitment to helping others get the most out of their experience with Microsoft technologies. For more than two decades, the Microsoft MVP Award has provided Microsoft an opportunity to say thank you to independent community leaders and to bring the voice of community into their technology roadmap through direct relationships with Microsoft product teams and events such as the MVP Global Summit. Last year, Microsoft made some changes to its MVP program to align with their new mobile first, cloud first strategy.

Today, Microsoft sent an email to MVPs saying that consumer focused product/service MVPs will be moved to the new influencer programs that will be managed by the respective product/service teams. Going forward, MVP program will be focused on developers and IT Pros alone.

The MVP program started off as a consumer influencer program but has, over time, become more Developer and IT Professional focused. We are now formalizing this change by having the Xbox, ID@Xbox, Bing Ads and Windows & Devices Award Categories supported directly by the product teams.

MVPs will be selected under the following categories,
