Microsoft is killing carrier billing for Windows Phone devices in India later this month. One of the most popular carriers in India, Idea recently notified users that “Microsoft will discontinue Operator Billing service for Windows Phone in India” on March 30th. Here’s the message users received from Idea:

Microsoft killing carrier billing in India is definitely problematic for Indian users who use it to buy apps and games from the Windows Store. It isn’t clear why exactly Microsoft is killing carrier billing in India, as Microsoft is yet to officially announce carrier billing’s death in India for Windows Phone users.
