Microsoft’s Edge browser for Android has picked up an update, taking it to version 1.0.0.1660.

The changelog simply reads:

  • In this update we have improved performance.

Microsoft has been making an effort to cross promote their Android apps, by for example prompting Outlook for Android users (which has over 100 million downloads) to use Edge by default to open links, integrating Cortana with the popular Microsoft Launcher,  encouraging Edge users to set the browser as their default and of course selling a popular Android phone preloaded with their apps. It remains to be seen if Microsoft’s embrace and extend strategy will succeed in the platform, but noone can fault them for trying.
