The Verge reports that Microsoft did not only demonstrate a unified app store today, but also showed off an experimental technology which would be able to stream Xbox games to Windows 8 and Windows Phone handsets, including the low-end Nokia Lumia 520.

The technology relies on games being rendered in the cloud, but keeps the system so responsive the latency was only 45 ms on the Nokia Lumia 520.

The game was apparently demonstrated being played on a Windows Phone using an Xbox Controller via an adaptor.

The service is still at the prototype stage, and may also eventually result in Xbox games being streamed to the Xbox One also.

Microsoft is still assessing the viability of the idea as a service.  Would our readers be interested in signing up? Let us know below.
