A couple of weeks back, we reported that Google has been working on Global Media Controls for Google Chrome. At the time, the feature was restricted to Chrome Canary but now Microsoft has added the feature to Edge Canary.

The feature is hidden at the moment but can be enabled by adding ‘–enable-features=GlobalMediaControls’ at the end of Target field under Edge Canary shortcut properties. Once added, the feature will be enabled and you can see a little play button added to the address bar.

This should allow users to manage different media playback with ease while working. The feature should be rolling out soon to the Canary users. That said, you can easily enable it right away by adding a text to the Edge Canary shortcut.
