One day Microsoft will stop offering updates for Windows 7.  That day was not meant to be for a few years, but it seems Microsoft is delivering a taste early, as many Windows 7 users are reporting not being able to update their operating system.

When they attempt they get error 80248015:

“Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.”

The issue appears to be date related, as setting your date to something older than March 12, 2017, allows the update to be downloaded.

Several users are complaining of the issue on Microsoft Answers but the company has not responded yet.
