Microsoft appoints Dr.Wang Yongdong as Global Senior Vice President

Microsoft today announced the appointment of Microsoft (Asia) Internet Engineering Dean Dr. Wang Yongdong, as a global senior vice president. Dr. Wang led Microsoft’s R&D group in the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on Bing, online advertising, voice, and several other technologies.

After leaving Yahoo, Dr. Wang joined Microsoft’s Bing team in 2009. He later returned to China to create Microsoft (Asia) Internet Engineering team. Microsoft’s popular Chinese chatbot Xiaoice was developed under his leadership. Currently, he also serves as CTO of Microsoft Asia-Pacific R&D Group, responsible for Microsoft’s Asia-Pacific R&D Group set up R&D strategy, vision and overall direction.
