Latest Xbox One builds for Alpha and Beta Insiders fix numerous bugs

Update 15: A new Xbox One build is rolling out to Alpha Insiders tonight which fixes numerous bugs.

A new Xbox One build is rolling out to Alpha Insiders tonight which adds Mixer co-streaming, controller sign-in and fixes a lot of bugs. We haven’t had many builds recently so it’s great to see Microsoft back on the bandwagon.

If this Xbox One build is well-received, then it’ll even roll out to Beta Insiders later this week. If not, then expect a barrage of patches to fix basic problems. We suspect the latter because whenever they add new features a lot of problems arise. Microsoft hasn’t shared patch notes yet but we’ll keep you posted if they reveal some earth-shattering new features. If you’re in the Alpha Ring, be sure to download the update later on today.

Update 1: Microsoft shared the changelog a few hours before the update will roll out.

OS version released: rs2_release_xbox_1706.170526-2218

Available: 2:00PM PDT 5/30 (9:00PM GMT 30/5)

NEW FEATURES:

Welcome to 1706 on Xbox One! This month we’re rolling out more fan-requested improvements, new features for Mixer, and much more!

NOTE: Not all planned features for the 1706 update are available at this time.

• Profile

When a signed in user is selected in the Guide, the e-mail address associated with their account will now display under their profile, as well as on Home. This feature is enabled by default for adult accounts, and disabled for child accounts (child accounts will never see the e-mail address associated with their account displayed).

Adult accounts can disable this feature by navigating to Settings > Account > Sign-in, security & passkey.

• Co-streaming

You can now invite a friend to combine their game broadcast with yours! Sign in with an account that has an Xbox Live Gold subscription and invite a friend to your party. Once you’ve begun broadcasting your game from the Guide, you’ll be able to select “Invite party to co-stream” from the Party tab. Co-streaming is currently available only to Alpha Insiders, so we’d suggest using the Insider forums to sync up with other Alpha Insiders to test out this feature.

• Controller Linking

Signing into your Xbox account can now be done with a click of the Xbox button thanks to the new controller linking feature! You can now link an account to a specific controller by opening the Guide, navigating to Settings > Account > Sign-in, security & passkey and selecting the “This controller signs in…” option followed by “Link controller.” From there, test the feature out for yourself by signing out of your account and then turning your controller off and then back on. Find more detailed steps and provide your thoughts on this feature by accepting the “Link Your Controller” Quest in the Xbox Insiders Hub!

FIXES:

• Windows Sonic

Fixed an issue which could cause distorted sounds and audio glitches when Windows Sonic is enabled.

• Skype UWP

Fixed issues which could sometimes cause the Skype UWP to crash during use.

• Mixer

Fixed an issue which sometimes caused the virtual keyboard to lose focus (preventing text from being entered).

KNOWN ISSUES:

• Mixer

• After dismissing the virtual keyboard, attempting to relaunch the virtual keyboard may fail.
• When switching games while broadcasting with Mixer, the stream freezes and doesn’t allow the user to close or restart the broadcast. Workaround: Restart the console.

Co-streaming and controller linking are definitely the most important features in this build. The known issues aren’t that bad either. Hopefully this patch will roll out to everyone soon after the minor bugs have been ironed out.

Update 2: It looks like this update also speeds up the My games & apps section.

Update 3: It looks like Beta Insiders are out of luck again. An update was supposed to roll out to them but instead Ring 3 and Ring 4 Insiders received a feature they’ve been waiting for weeks: custom gamerpics. We don’t know when Beta Insiders will get the build which went to Alpha Insiders yesterday but we’ll keep you posted.

Update 4: Beta Insiders are finally in luck. Today they’ll receive their first 1706 build which brings Mixer co-streaming and a lot of other features like controller sign-in. It’s the same build Alpha Insiders got a few days ago supposedly, with the addition of a few bug fixes.

Update 5: Ever since build 1706 rolled out to Alpha Insiders, many users have complained about Party Chat problems and more. Luckily, Microsoft is working to fix this in today’s update. It’ll also include an “Entertainment Twist”. We’ll keep you posted on what that is as soon as we know more.

Update 6: It looks like the recent patch fixed a number of issues for Alpha Insiders when it rolled out a few days ago. Today, Beta Insiders also get that patch which fixes party chat problems and more. Hopefully it’ll roll out to the rest of us normal folk in a few days.

Update 7: Build 1706 just has a lot of issues. Another patch is rolling out to Alpha Insiders today, June 12, which fixes the game install problem and other bugs.

Update 8: There’s another Xbox One build rolling out to Alpha Insiders tonight. It adds numerous fixes to the existing 1706 build which many users were hoping for.

Update 9: A new build 1706 is rolling out to Ring 3 Insiders which fixes numerous bugs and possibly adds new features.

Update 10: A new 1706 build is rolling out to Alpha Insiders today, June 16, which fixes numerous bugs and possibly adds new features.

Update 11: A new 1706 build is rolling out to Beta Insiders today, June 17, which fixes numerous bugs and possibly adds new features.

Update 12: New 1706 builds are rolling out to Alpha and Ring 3 Insiders today, June 19, which fixe numerous bugs and possibly adds new features. There is a Crackle beta application available which works with these builds so be sure to get it a go.

Update 13: A new Xbox One build is rolling out to Beta Insiders today. It fixes party chat issues. There should be another build for Alpha Insiders tomorrow which includes Wi-Fi fixes and the same build should roll out to Beta Insiders on Friday.

Update 14: A new Xbox One build is rolling out to Alpha Insiders tonight which fixes Wi-Fi problems many users were complaining about. This patch should hit Beta Insiders tomorrow.
