Is Red Dead Redemption 1 on PC or Windows? That’s the question we’ve been asking for months. But now, according to an Epic Games database that has just become available recently, the popular 2010 Western-set hit is making its way to PCs.
Epic Games’ EpicDB database, which leaks everything about Epic Games Store, details that Red Dead Redemption’s PC port (codenamed “Semla”) had been added to its backend a few months back. Despite being added back in February, the database has just been made publicly available in June 2024. It also reveals that the Red Dead’s PC port will have about 9.17GB in download size, which is almost the same size as its PlayStation 4 version.
That’s another hint in the book. A little while ago, another clue was spotted in Rockstar Games Launcher files. The code reads, “Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare, now playable on PC.”
Not too long ago, Rockstar also launched Red Dead Redemption’s PS4 and Nintendo Switch ports, but it’s safe to say that it wasn’t what everyone was expecting especially for $50. Obviously, the price tag didn’t sit right with gamers, especially for a hit title that was released about 14 years ago.
To add an insult to injury, the Microsoft Store also bundled Red Dead Redemption & Red Dead Redemption 2 for $100.
In the past, people were able to play Red Dead Redemption by using Xbox 360 emulation through Xenia, which allows the game to be played at higher resolutions and framerates than the original consoles. And when the PS4 and Switch ports hit the market, it was only a few minor graphical revamping here and there and a locked-in 30 fps without much of a meaningful improvement.
Can Rockstar make it right this time?
