Ikea’s dramatically cheap smart blinds were meant to hit the market in February in Europe and 1st April in USA,  butwe heard in March that the roll-out has been delayed due to software issues.

Ikea reported that the device has been delayed due to an “an opportunity for improved functionality,” and that the blinds will now launch with support for Ikea’s Trådfri smart home app, which includes Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant support.

Today Ikea announced that the blinds will finally hit Ikea’s shelves in Europe in August, and USA on the 1st November 2019. In USA only the Fyrtur blackout shades will be available.

The battery-operated smart blinds, which at 99 and 119 euro ( $129 — $179 ) are significantly cheaper than rival smart home blinds, so their arrival remains much anticipated.
