WindowsMobileItaly claims to have further information about the HTC Opal. They claim the device will be sold in Italy under the name HTC Touch Viva, and will be sold for less than € 299. The device is meant to occupy the same slot as the current HTC Touch Diamond. They also list the full specs, and its striking that while they are largely the same as the old Touch the device is now much thicker, at 15.5 mm.

The web page go on to describe a design-led remake of the Touch Viva, but personally the device does look more like a knock-off than the original, almost revolutionary spirit of the HTC Touch. HTC may be doing more damage than good to their brand by releasing this device.

WindowsMobileitaly claims the device will be sold as soon as the 15th September in Asia by Dopod, HTC’s Chinese wholy-owned subsidiary.
