It seems Russians know a thing or two about selling Windows Phones.
According to a report we received the HTC Mozart is turning out to be so popular there that retailers are having to order as second batch.
The success is apparently due to a massive ad campaign by HTC, the MTS mobile operator and Microsoft Russia, MTS sales personnel that are eager to sell Windows Phones, with almost every MTS store features a Windows Phone ad and special Mozart display tags, and a nationwide TV advertising, also sponsored by MTS, stressing a very low price of 12,990 Rubbles, aluminium design and the "main sensation of the year" moto.
According to our tipster one can now hardly find a HTC Mozart in Moscow and St. Petersburg and in one-to-one interviews sales personnel say, that HTC Mozart is extremely popular.
The HTC Mozart is being followed up by the HTC Radar selling at a significantly higher 19,990 Rubbles, but of course on the foundation of a successful HTC Mozart launch.
Seems like a recipe Microsoft should be trying to repeat elsewhere also.
Thanks Leha_mp3 for the tip.
