With Windows 10, Microsoft is bringing Cortana to the taskbar and it replaces the Start menu search feature. When you type something in the search bar available in the taskbar, search is done both in your device and online.

Cortana gets to know you and helps you get things done, all while letting you interact naturally and easily. By learning more about you over time, Cortana becomes increasingly useful every day. She will learn your preferences, provide quick access to information, and make recommendations personalized for you. You’re always in control of what Cortana knows and manages on your behalf.

If you don’t want Cortana and online search, you can disable it. Follow the below steps to do it.

1) Open Cortana and go to Notebook->Settings. Or Search for “Cortana & Search Settings” in the search bar.

2) In the Settings, disable the first toggle.Cortana Settings

3) Once you disable the Cortana toggle, you will have another toggle below to disable Search online feature.

Once both these toggles are disabled, you will get device only search results on your PC.
