The GPD Pocket line of computers are some of the smallest laptops on the market. Now GPD has released their biggest mini-laptop yet.
The GPD Pocket 2 Max was designed with the perfect balance between size and functionality in mind, with its 8.9 inch display, but large keyboard and comfortable touchpad. It does measure 8.1″ x 5.8 ” x 0.7″, and weighs around 1.5 pounds, so you would need a pretty deep pocket to house the device.
The magnesium alloy chassis gives the laptop a sleek appearance. It has a 9200 mAh battery, which is very reasonable for a device of its magnitude. The device contains a 2MP camera, making it the first GPD Pocket device with a built in webcam.
The laptop boasts the most powerful processor of any GPD device to date, with an Intel Core m3-8100Y Amber Lake processor. It also has 8GB-16GB of LPDDR3 Ram and a PCLe NVMe solid state drive, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. A fan for active cooling has been included too, so the device isn’t likely to overheat. The screen resolution has also been improved, with a 2560 x 1600 pixel display.
Whilst company’s promotional pictures show the Ubuntu MATE desktop, but Pocket 2 Max is expected to run on Windows 10 home 64-bit software.
With a similar release time, the Chuwi Minibook faces some tough competition. The GPD Pocket 2 Max having the more powerful processor and higher capacity battery may just give it the upper hand.
