Strategy Analytics has published a new report which covers the latest virtual assistant market share information. The report also forecasts the future changes in the market share of the companies. The report has indicated to Google being dominant with over 60% of Market Share by 2022. Google, right now has held over 46% of the market and is predicted to increase in the coming years.
As you can see from the exhibit above, Google currently holds 45.9% of the market share and will have 60% by 2022. On the other hand, Apple owned Siri is predicted to fall in the coming years which might indicate to the fact that Apple is no longer in command of the market like it used to be in the past. Microsoft is out of the picture because of low use of Cortana by users on Android and iOS devices.
Strategy Analytics also published a timeline showing when the Virtual Assistants came in the market. While Apple was the first company to introduce a virtual assistant back in 2011, Google came late but is dominating the market. Also, Microsoft owned Cortana shows up on the timeline for a while but disappeared because of the absence of Windows Phone in 2017. Alexa, Google Assistant, and Brixby debuted the market in 2017, and are predicted to continue in the future.
For now, it looks like Google is all set to dominate the virtual assistant market in the coming years but nothing can be predicted accurately in this ever-changing world of technology. No one exactly knows what future holds for these technologies or whether people will even prefer using them in the future.
