The Game Awards is kicking off strong this year with Godfall, the first video game officially announced for PS5.

Described as a looter-slasher game for not only PlayStation 5 but also the PC, the 2020 next-gen game is the first game we know is coming to Sony’s next-gen console.

The title is set to be a console exclusive on Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 5, but it’ll also be coming to the controversial Epic Games Store.

The looter-slasher isn’t due out until late 2020, presumably in line with the launch of Sony’s PlayStation 4 successor. It’ll be a decent launch title; while we’ve yet to see if the title has any real depth we can at least expect the game to be a visual powerhouse.

Godfall is a third-person fantasy RPG complete with melee combat. Players will be able to tackle hordes of enemies while they hunt for that ever-so-satisfying loot. The game will be playable in either single-player, a two-player co-op mode or in a group of three.

“We’re thrilled at Gearbox to have been chosen by Counterplay Games to bring their creative vision of Godfall to gamers on the PlayStation 5 and PC,” announced president of Gearbox Publishing Steve Gibson. “As we continue our mission to entertain the world, Godfall is a perfect fit with Gearbox Publishing. Playing with your friends and gearing up are some of the things we love most.”
