Rumors are rife that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 series won’t be as good as its predecessor, the Galaxy S20. Famous tipster Ice Universe even went to the extent of saying “please buy the S20 series as soon as possible, don’t wait for the S21 series.” While that left people disappointed, a lot of people might find Galaxy S21 Ultra worth considering mainly for two reasons — a better camera sensor, support for 120Hz refresh rate at QHD resolution.

If tipster Ice Universe is to be believed, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is using ISOCELL HM3 camera sensor with 108MP resolution and 0.8?m pixels. This means the S21 Ultra will be able to capture images faster in lowlight conditions as the HM3 sensor offers 12% better light sensitivity. Another interesting change you’ll see in the S21 Ultra is the exclusion of the 3D ToF sensor, which can be found on the S20 Ultra. Instead, what the company is using in the S21 Ultra is a 3D ToF sensor with laser autofocus. So, we can expect better autofocus in low-light conditions and closer subjects.

Besides the camera department, the Galaxy S21 Ultra will also have an edge over its predecessor when it comes to the smoothness of the display. The S21 Ultra will have support for the 120Hz refresh rate at QHD resolution(1440p), and this is the only model in the S21 series to offer the feature. In other words, the regular Galaxy S21 and S21+ won’t have support for the 120Hz  refresh rate at 1440p. You can know more about the Galaxy S21 Ultra here.

Only time will tell whether these improvements convince people to buy the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Meanwhile, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S21 series in the month of January next year.
